Legal Counsel – Regional Role in Amman

About the role

Marsh People & Investments, part of Marsh’s India, Middle East & Africa business, is seeking a talented Counsel to join its regional legal team in Amman. This role sits at the centre of a fast‑paced, high‑profile regional business, supporting colleagues across the Middle East on a broad mix of legal, regulatory and commercial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on corporate and commercial matters for Marsh and Mercer businesses in the Middle East.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, sub‑contracts, vendor agreements and related documents.
• Support stakeholders on contentious matters, including disputes, pre‑litigation issues and employment matters.
• Manage external counsel on complex legal issues and oversee progress and deliverables.
• Assist with end‑to‑end handling of E&O claims, including triage, investigation and trend analysis.
• Support internal investigations, document preservation, matter intake and reporting.
• Stay current on legal and regulatory developments and assess business implications.
• Identify legal and commercial risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Recognised legal qualification and admission to practice in Jordan, another Middle East jurisdiction or a common‑law jurisdiction.
• 3–5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a law firm or in‑house legal team.
• Strong experience in contentious matters and litigation, especially commercial and employment disputes.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts with a clear understanding of legal risk.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and drafting skills.
• Ability to work independently, use sound judgment and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
