Supply Chain Coordinator – Syria Country Office

About the role

The Supply Chain Coordinator will oversee procurement and logistics operations for the Syria Country Office, ensuring that all supply chain activities support programme delivery and comply with organisational policies and legal requirements. This fixed‑term position (6 months) is based in Damascus and reports to the Head of Office.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Supply Chain in implementing global and regional supply chain priorities and strategies.
• Oversee procurement processes, applying the SCI Procurement Manual, Country Logistics Manual, partner procurement guidelines and sanctions/export control requirements.
• Drive cost‑saving initiatives and monitor financial benefits from procurement transactions.
• Manage and develop direct reports (Supply Chain Officers), including performance reviews and capacity‑building plans.
• Maintain and update a qualified vendor list, coordinating with implementing partners and international procurement units.
• Implement logistics standards, develop distribution plans, and manage the vehicle fleet in line with the SCI Quality Framework.
• Ensure child safeguarding measures are integrated into all supply chain activities.
• Provide preparedness support to enable rapid response and resource deployment during crises.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement and logistics within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong knowledge of compliance requirements, including sanctions, export controls and child safeguarding.
• Ability to lead a small team, conduct performance management and deliver capacity‑building activities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on cost efficiency.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
