Cloud Support Engineer

About the role

The Cloud Support Engineer will provide specialized technical support for UNRWA's Azure‑based systems, manage Kubernetes clusters, and work closely with other DITID units to ensure high availability, performance, and security of mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Support technical handover of infrastructure built on Azure App Services, Kubernetes, and Azure SQL.
• Perform system administration tasks including MS SQL Server patching, upgrades, and database management.
• Monitor system health and performance, conduct risk mitigation checks, and ensure optimal functionality.
• Prepare and present technical reports on application performance, operational issues, and risk mitigation actions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of system inventory, configuration, backup/restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Identify and mitigate operational and security risks to support business continuity.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and provide regular progress updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, IT, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in Azure cloud infrastructure and systems administration.
• Fluency in both English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure (including Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Kubernetes Service).
• Kubernetes cluster management.
• MS SQL Server administration.
• Windows Server operating system.
• DevOps concepts and tools.
• Networking fundamentals and observability tools.

What we offer

• 12‑month fixed‑term contract with possibility of extension.
• Monthly remuneration equivalent to UNRWA Grade 12 Step 1 (JD 845).
• Work location in Amman, Jordan (onsite).
