Child Protection Consultant – Justice for Children (12‑month consultancy)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior consultant to support the implementation of its Reimagine Justice for Children agenda. The consultant will provide technical capacity, conduct rapid research, and strengthen knowledge management to improve child protection and access to justice across Jordan and remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the Reimagine Justice for Children agenda, including legal empowerment, diversion, and child‑friendly court initiatives.
• Conduct rapid research and produce high‑quality legal, policy and programme analyses.
• Strengthen knowledge management, global learning, and documentation of good practices.
• Provide technical assistance to governments, UN agencies and development partners on child protection and justice systems.
• Contribute to the development or review of laws, policies, strategies and technical guidance related to child justice.
• Support selected advocacy, webinar and conference activities and collaborate across Amman, New York and Latin America/Caribbean.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in law, human rights, international development, public policy, social sciences or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience in justice for children, child protection or human rights.
• Demonstrated experience conducting high‑quality legal, policy or programme research.
• Experience providing technical assistance to governments, UN agencies or development partners.
• Proven experience contributing to the development or review of laws, policies, strategies or programmes for child justice.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; working proficiency in French or Spanish is highly desirable.
