Credit ECL Head

About the role

The Credit ECL Head is responsible for overseeing all aspects of IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the bank’s strategic objectives. This senior position leads credit analytics projects, drives data governance, and provides insightful reporting to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review the periodic IFRS 9 ECL calculation process and deliver accurate, timely reports for senior management.
• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of credit analytics projects related to ECL calculations and regulatory requirements.
• Gather business requirements, conduct gap analysis, and evaluate solution alternatives for technical feasibility.
• Own credit analytics data, establish data‑governance practices, and ensure data integrity for analysis.
• Develop advanced ECL dashboards and reports to support data‑driven decision‑making.
• Provide stress‑testing and scenario‑analysis results, ensuring models reflect diverse economic conditions.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external auditors and ensure timely submission of regulatory reports.
• Oversee validation, testing, and performance monitoring of credit ECL models.
• Guide digital transformation and process‑improvement initiatives within the Credit Analytics department.
• Manage application support activities for credit analytics users across all AB PLC countries.
• Control departmental budgeting and forecasting, and develop the Credit Analytics team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or a related field from a recognized university.
• Professional certification in Project Management or Business Management is preferred.
• Extensive experience in credit risk, IFRS 9, and ECL modeling within a banking environment.
• Proven ability to lead large‑scale analytics projects and manage cross‑functional stakeholder relationships.
• Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and audit processes.
