Principal Backend Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to lead the design, development and operation of scalable services that power Almosafer’s travel platforms. The role combines deep technical ownership with collaboration across product, QA and other engineering teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain high‑performance backend services using Java, Spring Boot and micro‑service architecture.
• Own features end‑to‑end, from analysis and implementation through deployment, monitoring and production support.
• Integrate third‑party systems and APIs (REST and SOAP) and ensure data consistency across PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis.
• Implement event‑driven pipelines with Kafka and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering standards and mentor junior developers.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and continuously optimise performance, reliability and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of professional experience developing backend solutions.
• Strong ownership mindset, problem‑solving ability and capacity to work independently.
• Experience in a fast‑moving, product‑focused environment.
