Senior Adviser – Policy, Gender Equality & Education (P-5)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Senior Adviser (Policy, Gender Equality and Education) at the P-5 level for a fixed‑term position in Amman, Jordan. The role will provide strategic guidance and technical assistance to strengthen education systems and improve learning outcomes for girls and other vulnerable groups across diverse contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of gender‑responsive education policies and programmes.
• Provide high‑level advisory support to UNICEF country offices, partners and governments on education and gender equality issues.
• Conduct policy analysis, evidence synthesis and advocacy to influence national and regional education reforms.
• Coordinate cross‑sectoral initiatives, ensuring integration of gender considerations into broader UNICEF programmes.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of education interventions, especially for adolescent girls, girls with disabilities and girls in humanitarian settings.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in education, gender studies, public policy, international development or a related field.
• Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) in education policy, gender equality and programme management, preferably in low‑income or conflict‑affected contexts.
• Proven track record of influencing policy at national or regional levels.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
