Senior Data & Research International Consultant (5.5 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior data and research consultant to support the ECAMENA transition. Over a 5.5‑month period, you will produce a set of analytical and knowledge products, including workshop reports, evidence reviews, documentation of survey innovations, transition notes, and research papers on MICS innovations in the MENA region.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver a workshop report and reviews of specific evidence products.
• Document selected survey innovations and produce a practical transition note.
• Write research papers on MICS innovations for the MENA context.
• Provide methodological reviews, analytical notes, and peer‑review style comments on complex evidence products.
• Support national data systems and child‑centric surveys, offering technical assistance to governments and UN country teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics, demography, statistics, epidemiology, engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 15 years of experience in quantitative research, data analytics, and household survey methodology.
• Extensive experience with national data systems, child‑focused statistics, and MICS or similar survey programmes.
• Proven track record of producing publication‑quality analytical papers, research briefs, or journal‑style manuscripts.
• Fluency in English with excellent written communication skills.

Required skills

• Strong quantitative analysis and research synthesis capabilities.
• Methodological review and peer‑review expertise.
• Knowledge of child poverty measurement and multidimensional deprivation analysis.
• Familiarity with MENA data contexts and regional/international data partnerships.
