Airfield Management Shift Lead (AMSL)

About the role

The Airfield Management Shift Lead (AMSL) is responsible for maintaining situational awareness of airfield activities and overseeing the AMOPS section to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective environment for aircraft operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform airfield inspections and safety checks, ensuring compliance with planning and design criteria.
• Plan, organize, and direct airfield construction/repairs, ice/snow removal, bird/wildlife control, and driving programs.
• Procure and maintain information on safe aircraft operation, including NOTAM, aeronautical charts, flight information publications, and weather data.
• Process domestic and international flight plans and coordinate with base agencies for billeting, mess, refueling, transportation, and transient aircraft maintenance.
• Coordinate airfield maintenance and construction projects, hazardous cargo handling, live fire devices, and respond to aircraft emergencies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved DoD/Airfield Managers course or equivalent with aviation experience as aircrew, dispatcher, or flight follower for a 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 operator.
• Minimum four years of experience supervising coordination between air‑traffic control and maintenance personnel, dispatching, and enforcing airfield safety procedures.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM Medical Exam and a US Government Secret Security Clearance (US citizenship required).

Required skills

• Flight plan processing and flight‑following procedures.
• Knowledge of NOTAM, aeronautical charts, and weather information systems.
• Airfield safety procedures and wildlife/bird strike hazard management.
• Coordination of airfield construction, repairs, and hazardous cargo handling.
• Compliance with AFMAN 13‑204v2 and AFMAN 13‑24v2 regulations.
