AMR Technical Officer

About the role

The AMR Technical Officer will support the day‑to‑day implementation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) activities under the STRIDES Jordan Activity. Working under the AMR & IPC Advisor, the role provides technical and operational support across AMR workstreams, helping to strengthen surveillance, develop tools, and coordinate with government partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for AMR activities aligned with Jordan’s National Action Plan and relevant guidelines.
• Strengthen AMR surveillance systems, including data collection, analysis, and reporting at facility and national levels.
• Develop and disseminate AMR tools, guidelines, training materials, and technical briefs.
• Maintain project protocols, data sets, manuals, and training resources.
• Conduct literature searches on emerging AMR and stewardship issues.
• Respond to technical inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Track implementation of AMR workplan outputs and ensure compliance with donor contracts.
• Engage with the Ministry of Health and other government entities on surveillance and stewardship activities.
• Coordinate with operations and finance teams for on‑budget delivery.
• Draft technical progress reports, donor reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Contribute to annual workplan development and proposal design.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of AMR, antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and AMR diagnostics.
• Familiarity with antimicrobial stewardship and the WHO Global Action Plan on AMR.
• Understanding of Jordan’s public‑health system and national AMR landscape (advantageous).
• Experience supporting AMR programmes in Jordan or the broader MENA region preferred.
• Professional proficiency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
