Assistant Category Manager

About the role

Talabat is seeking an Assistant Category Manager to drive growth for its innovative grocery store, tMart. You will own the end‑to‑end management of the Fruits & Vegetables category across multiple Middle‑East markets, ensuring the right assortment, pricing, promotions and quality for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the Fruits & Vegetables category – assortment, pricing, offers and supply.
• Monitor economic performance (sales, gross margin, P&L) and align with commercial strategy.
• Work with operations to define flows, tools and fixtures; resolve supplier issues through regular warehouse visits.
• Maintain daily availability, introduce seasonal items, and ensure cost‑efficient assortment.
• Select and negotiate with local suppliers on price, discounts, rebates and payment terms.
• Price items daily according to Ministry guidelines, conduct market price audits.
• Identify promotional opportunities, build the promotion calendar and oversee execution.
• Visit tMart stores regularly to verify product quality against SOPs.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing multiple product categories for large retailers or FMCG companies.
• Proven track record in an international or multi‑country environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret sales and margin data.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier‑management skills.
