Assistant Category Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Category Manager to support the growth of tMart, our cloud‑store grocery concept, across the Middle East. The role will work closely with the Category Manager to drive assortment, pricing, promotions and supplier relationships for the grocery category.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day category management, including assortment, pricing, offers and supply.
• Monitor economic performance of the grocery category (sales, gross margin, P&L) and ensure alignment with the commercial strategy.
• Implement the commercial strategy, category plans and pricing guidelines.
• Provide input to operations on flows, tools, fixtures and templates.
• Resolve issues with local suppliers and conduct regular market visits.
• Define and maintain the local assortment and coordinate with regional teams for international contracts.
• Negotiate with suppliers on cost, discounts, rebates and payment terms.
• Collect market prices, conduct price audits and set prices according to Ministry or internal guidelines.
• Identify promotional products, develop the country promotion calendar and ensure effective execution of each promo.
• Analyse promotional performance, consumer preferences and competitor trends to improve future activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category or product management, preferably in grocery or fast‑moving consumer goods.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales and margin data.
• Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
• Good understanding of pricing strategies and promotional planning.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, supply chain and regional teams.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
