About the role
The UNESCO Office in Jordan is seeking an Associate Project Officer to support the planning, execution, monitoring and reporting of cultural heritage rehabilitation and construction projects across the country. Working under the Head of Office and the Culture Programme Specialist, the role ensures timely and quality delivery of ongoing activities.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in managing all project phases, from planning and budgeting to execution and final reporting.
- Coordinate and supervise on‑site rehabilitation and construction works in various Jordanian locations.
- Maintain regular communication with UNESCO contractors, update Bill of Quantities (BoQ) tables and verify compliance with technical specifications and drawings.
- Conduct field visits to monitor progress, ensure adherence to design, safety and quality standards.
- Review contractors’ deliverables and reports for technical compliance with contracts.
- Identify potential bottlenecks, propose solutions and support timely resolution of issues.
Required profile
- University degree in cultural heritage, architecture, engineering, project management or a related field.
- Experience in managing construction or rehabilitation projects, preferably in a cultural heritage context.
- Strong analytical and reporting abilities.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work closely with national authorities and UNESCO staff.
