Commis I – Food Preparation Specialist

About the role

Prepare special meals, regulate cooking equipment, ensure food quality and portioning, and maintain food logs in a luxury hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, including cold foods.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters; pull food from freezer storage to thaw.
• Maintain food logs, monitor quality and quantity, and inform the Chef of excess items for daily specials.
• Communicate menu specials and out‑of‑stock items to Food & Beverage service staff.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, and coaching employees.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; protect company assets and maintain confidentiality.
• Anticipate and address guests’ service needs, using clear and professional language.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lb, and bending or twisting as required.

Required profile

• Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree.
• At least 3 years of related food preparation experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.
