Commis II – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis II supports the culinary team by preparing ingredients, cooking, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This full‑time position is based at Marriott International on Al‑Hashemi Street in Aqaba.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients: portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix according to recipes.
• Cook and assemble dishes, including cold foods, while meeting quality, presentation and safety standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test food for proper doneness and monitor quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions, and ensure proper storage.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment after each shift.
• Check appliance and food temperatures and report any maintenance or safety issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of related food‑service or kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions for an entire shift.
