Communications and Advocacy Officer

About the role

The Communications and Advocacy Officer will own and coordinate JRS Jordan’s communications, visibility and advocacy activities, working closely with the Country Lead and the wider team to promote the organisation’s work and the rights of refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Manage JRS Jordan’s social media channels in Arabic, develop editorial calendars and create engaging content.
• Produce communication materials such as brochures, flyers, photos, videos, and design assets.
• Coordinate institutional communications and donor visibility, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
• Collect and ethically share stories from refugees, handling transcription, translation and safeguarding.
• Plan and execute public and community events, including exhibitions, conferences and cultural activities.
• Support the advocacy strategy by preparing key messages, briefs and using programme data for evidence‑based advocacy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in communications, advocacy or external relations within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) and native Arabic.
• Demonstrated understanding of forced migration and refugee issues in Jordan.
• Strong networking ability with NGOs, UN agencies, donors and civil society.
