Communications and Institutional Relations Coordinator

About the role

Action Against Hunger is seeking a Communications and Institutional Relations Coordinator to lead the implementation of its advocacy and communications strategies for the oPt mission. The role will work closely with programme, MEAL, HQ and external partners to ensure coherent messaging, donor compliance and effective representation in key fora.

Key responsibilities

• Operationalise the oPt advocacy strategy, establish collaborations and represent ACF in high‑level coordination groups such as the HCT Advocacy Working Group, WASH Cluster and Nutrition Cluster.
• Guide the development of advocacy priorities, adapt the strategy to the evolving context and produce an annual advocacy action plan aligned with the global ACF strategy.
• Oversee the communications strategy, ensure quality control of press releases, social media posts, web stories and talking points, and coordinate validation with HQ communications teams.
• Manage the advocacy and communications unit, set objectives, approve work plans and supervise the Advocacy Officer, Communications Officer and Photographer.
• Conduct research on root causes of beneficiary vulnerabilities, monitor policy developments and produce background papers and recommendations for donors and partners.
• Liaise with donors, UN agencies and diplomatic stakeholders, map key actors, and coordinate joint advocacy initiatives across the ACF network.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications and advocacy within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong coordination skills with the ability to work across programme, MEAL, HQ and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal English; experience preparing donor reports, press releases and policy briefs.
