Community & Awareness Officer

About the role

The Community & Awareness Officer will support the Community & Awareness Manager in delivering the community engagement, public awareness and sustainability education agenda of the AVTR Waste Management Program in Jordan. This field‑focused position involves regular interaction with residents, schools, universities, NGOs and other local stakeholders to promote responsible waste practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the annual community engagement and awareness plan.
• Conduct regular field visits across AVTR operational areas to meet residents and local representatives.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with community members, neighbourhood groups and NGOs.
• Identify and document community concerns, misconceptions and behavioural challenges related to waste management.
• Support community meetings, outreach programmes and public events.
• Collaborate with operations teams to understand behaviours affecting waste collection, segregation and recycling.
• Help design and deliver targeted behaviour‑change interventions, including door‑to‑door awareness activities.
• Distribute educational materials and promote responsible waste disposal, recycling and environmental protection.
• Assist in coordinating the annual community awareness calendar and field execution of campaigns.
