Data Analytics Engineer – Power BI & Microsoft Fabric

About the role

Nexttec Technology is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to design, develop, and implement data‑driven solutions that enable clients to make informed business decisions. The role works closely with data scientists and business analysts to translate business needs into technical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high‑performance Power BI semantic models.
• Develop complex DAX measures, calculated tables, and advanced modeling techniques such as calculation groups and composite models.
• Optimize semantic models within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
• Define and implement business logic to transform “Gold” layer data into performant semantic models.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure upstream tables are structured for optimal Power BI consumption.
• Act as the primary gatekeeper for data definitions, standardising metrics across finance, supply chain, sales, and other domains.
• Perform data validation and unit testing on DAX calculations to guarantee reliable analytical outputs.
• Leverage AI‑powered capabilities (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to accelerate DAX authoring, model documentation, and anomaly detection.
• Optimize models for Natural Language Querying by refining linguistic schemas, synonyms, and Q&A features.
• Monitor and resolve performance bottlenecks in the Power BI semantic layer and DAX queries.
• Enforce data governance standards, including Row‑Level Security (RLS) and Object‑Level Security (OLS).
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, measure definitions, and transformation logic.
• Support analysts in adopting self‑service BI through certified, reusable datasets.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and maintaining Power BI semantic models at scale.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with data engineers, BI teams, and business stakeholders.
• Detail‑oriented approach to data validation, governance, and performance optimisation.
