Diploma Civil Engineer – Testing & Laboratory Role

About the role

Issue testing reports, coordinate construction testing activities with technicians and clients and ensure all testing are performed according to required specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Implement section policies, goals, objectives and procedures, supporting their development as needed.
• Support Senior Engineer/Department Manager in implementing operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans.
• Respond to customers’ inquiries concerning testing progress and reporting.
• Prepare and initially check material testing reports before submission for approval.
• Follow‑up laboratory tests of construction materials such as soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, steel, tile, kerbstone, etc.
• Analyze test data, conduct corrective actions to prevent non‑conforming products, and ensure compliance with national and international standards.
• Set materials testing schedules and supervise work performed by testing technicians.
• Ensure tests are carried out according to relevant standard test methods and customer requirements.
• Maintain calibration and maintenance programs for site equipment and instruments.
• Ensure proper safety regulations and protection measures are applied in the laboratory.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 0‑2 years of experience in civil engineering testing and laboratory work.

Required skills

• Knowledge of building codes (ACI, UBC, SBC) and specifications.
• Familiarity with testing methods and standards (ASTM, BS, AASHTO, ANSI, CIRIA).
• Understanding of ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 requirements.
• Fundamentals of materials science and materials testing procedures.
• Operation and use of materials testing equipment.
• Occupational safety practices in a laboratory environment.
• Proficiency with MS Word and MS Outlook.
