Duty Engineer

About the role

The Duty Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and safety of hotel facilities in Amman. You will ensure all equipment, tools and systems are functional, calibrated and compliant with safety standards while supporting guest service needs.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances, equipment and mechanical systems.
• Calibrate controls, gauges, meters and operate shut‑off valves.
• Manage inventory, order parts, maintain purchase order logs and stock supplies.
• Conduct life‑safety checks, fire‑pump runs, generator runs and inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Assist in developing disaster‑response protocols and respond to guest repair requests.
• Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation and employee coaching.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, report hazards and complete required safety training.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 2 years of related maintenance or engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Preventative maintenance techniques.
• Calibration of controls, gauges and meters.
• Operation of power lifts and shut‑off valves.
• Fire‑pump, generator and fire‑sprinkler system testing.
• Inventory management and computerized maintenance tracking.
