Education & Early Childhood Development Technical Advisor (6‑month contract)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Education and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Technical Advisor to provide temporary coverage during a parental leave. This fixed‑term, six‑month assignment (Sept 1 2026 – Mar 1 2027) will support IRC country programmes across the Middle East, North Africa & Ukraine (MENAU) region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct technical assistance to MENAU country programmes identified as strategic priorities for education and ECD innovation, growth, and research.
• Develop and adapt guidance, tools, and resources aligned with the Nurturing Care Framework and IRC technical assistance model.
• Coordinate with the regional Education Technical Advisor and sector‑specific technical advisors (Child Protection, Nutrition, Primary Health, Mental Health, Economic Recovery, Women’s Protection) to ensure integrated programme design and implementation.
• Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities, contributing to evidence generation and knowledge sharing across the region.
• Facilitate capacity‑building workshops, webinars, and peer‑learning sessions for country staff.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Public Health, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience delivering education/ECD programmes in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical assistance and capacity‑building to multi‑country teams.
• Strong knowledge of the Nurturing Care Framework and its application in emergency contexts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to work across diverse cultural contexts.
