Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Technical Consultant

About the role

Oxfam GB is seeking an experienced Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Technical Consultant to independently assess and enhance safety management across its recycling facilities and related operations in Jordan. The consultant will work on‑site to review existing risk assessments, fire prevention measures and overall compliance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update existing health and safety risk assessments and action plans for recycling operations.
• Inspect field sites, offices, staff accommodation and residential facilities for compliance with fire detection, alarm, evacuation and electrical/gas safety standards.
• Evaluate vehicle fleet safety, driver competency and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Assess fire prevention, detection, emergency response and business continuity measures.
• Support Oxfam’s internal review process by identifying incident contributing factors and recommending corrective actions.
• Conduct inductions and training on driver safety, defensive driving and emergency equipment usage.

Required profile

• Proven experience in EHS consulting, preferably within recycling or waste‑handling environments.
• Strong knowledge of Jordanian health, safety and fire regulations.
• Ability to work independently and produce clear, actionable recommendations.
• Excellent analytical and report‑writing skills.
