French Research and Editing Support - Migration Governance

About the role

The Sustainable Research and Development Center seeks a French‑language Research and Editing Support Consultant to assist its Lead Migration Governance Expert on an international assignment focused on migration governance, Africa‑Europe cooperation, and a strategic policy publication. The role is fully remote and complements the Lead Expert’s bilingual capacity by providing specialised French research, editorial, and quality‑assurance services.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, collect, and review French‑language policy, governmental, institutional and research documents relevant to migration governance.
• Support research on Francophone African partner countries, covering topics such as migrant smuggling, return and reintegration, legal migration, international protection, and diaspora engagement.
• Prepare concise English‑language or bilingual summaries of key French documents and assist the Lead Expert in tracking institutional milestones and emerging policy issues.
• Develop and maintain a French‑English terminology glossary for migration‑governance concepts.
• Edit French‑language texts for grammar, clarity, consistency, and professional policy style, ensuring alignment with English versions.
• Verify factual and linguistic accuracy of quotations, titles, institutional names, and policy terminology.

Required profile

• Fluent in both French and English, with proven ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Experience in policy research, especially related to migration, development, or Africa‑Europe cooperation.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with reviewing governmental and institutional publications.
• Attention to detail and capacity to ensure linguistic consistency across bilingual outputs.
