Head of Commercial Finance & Business Performance

About the role

This senior position reports directly to the General Manager of a major international retail organisation operating in Jordan. The Head of Commercial Finance & Business Performance will act as a strategic partner to the leadership team, providing commercial insight that drives profitable growth and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as trusted strategic and commercial adviser to the General Manager and senior leaders.
• Lead annual business‑planning, budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning processes.
• Translate strategic objectives into measurable financial and operational priorities.
• Evaluate performance across sales, margin, profitability, costs, productivity and customer metrics.
• Provide forward‑looking commercial insight, identify risks, gaps and growth opportunities.
• Challenge commercial and operational assumptions with rigorous analysis.
• Lead scenario planning, investment appraisals, feasibility studies and business‑case development.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve resource allocation, performance and commercial accountability.
• Support decisions on pricing, promotions, product performance, cost optimisation and capital investment.
• Establish and maintain meaningful performance indicators across the organisation.
• Present clear, concise, commercially relevant recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Strengthen financial understanding among non‑finance leaders and embed a performance‑led culture.
• Ensure effective financial governance, internal controls and risk‑management practices.
• Lead, develop and mentor the finance and performance team.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a commercial finance leader within a large, multi‑site retail or similar environment.
• Strong track record of influencing senior management and shaping business strategy.
• Deep understanding of business planning, budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial modelling.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable commercial insight.
• Experience driving performance improvement, cost optimisation and profitable growth.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for senior stakeholder engagement.
