Head of Commercial Finance & Business Performance

About the role

The Head of Commercial Finance & Business Performance will act as a strategic partner to the senior leadership team of a major international retail organisation expanding in Jordan. Reporting to the General Manager, the role blends financial planning, commercial analysis and operational insight to drive profitable growth and improve efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Provide trusted strategic and commercial advice to the General Manager and senior leaders.
• Lead annual business‑planning, budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning processes.
• Translate strategic objectives into measurable financial and operational targets.
• Evaluate performance across sales, margin, profitability, costs and productivity.
• Identify emerging risks, performance gaps and growth opportunities.
• Challenge commercial assumptions with rigorous analysis.
• Conduct scenario planning, investment appraisals, feasibility studies and business‑case development.
• Partner with operational heads to improve resource allocation and commercial accountability.
• Support decisions on pricing, promotions, product performance, cost optimisation and capital investment.
• Establish and maintain meaningful performance indicators across the organisation.
• Present clear, concise recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Strengthen financial understanding among non‑finance leaders and embed a performance‑led culture.
• Ensure effective financial governance, internal controls and risk‑management.
• Lead, develop and mentor the finance and performance team.

Required profile

• Senior finance professional with extensive commercial experience in a retail or similar environment.
• Proven ability to act as a strategic partner to senior leadership.
• Strong analytical mindset with the capacity to translate complex data into actionable business priorities.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing and presenting to senior executives.
• Leadership experience in developing and mentoring finance teams.
