Hydrogeology Groundwater Engineer

About the role

WSP Middle East is looking for an experienced Hydrogeology Engineer (5‑8 years) to lead groundwater‑related projects across the Middle East. Based in Amman, Jordan, you will manage multidisciplinary teams and deliver high‑quality hydrogeological assessments and groundwater control solutions for infrastructure, environmental and mining projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project delivery, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, budget and quality standards.
• Lead coordination meetings with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight and quality assurance.
• Conduct hydrogeological groundwater assessments, including evaluation of groundwater rise and long‑term impacts on infrastructure.
• Interpret packer tests, falling/rising head tests and pumping test data to determine aquifer parameters and well performance.
• Develop, calibrate and review 3D groundwater flow and solute transport models (MODFLOW, MT3DMS, GMS, FEFLOW or equivalent).
• Perform water‑balance and mass‑balance assessments to support sustainable groundwater management.
• Design and review construction dewatering systems and long‑term groundwater control solutions.
• Prepare hydrogeological reports, dewatering plans and groundwater impact assessments.
• Apply mining hydrogeology expertise for ore‑body dewatering, risk assessment and post‑mining water management where required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering (Water Resources) or a related field.
• 5‑8 years of experience in hydrogeological engineering, groundwater modelling and dewatering design.
• Proven leadership and project‑management abilities with client‑facing experience.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex groundwater projects.

Required skills

• Hydrogeological groundwater assessments and interpretation of packer, head and pumping tests.
• 3D groundwater flow and solute transport modelling (MODFLOW, MT3DMS, GMS, FEFLOW).
• Water‑balance and mass‑balance analysis.
• GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) for data visualization and analysis.
• Python and FloPy for modelling workflow automation.
• Dewatering system design and groundwater control solution development.
