Internal Medicine Specialist (Board Certified)

About the role
We are seeking a board‑certified Internal Medicine Specialist to oversee the care of patients admitted under internal medicine subspecialties and to independently admit general internal medicine cases. The role involves supervising hospitalists and residents, supporting attending physicians with complex cases, and contributing to the Internal Medicine Residency Programme.
Key responsibilities
- Lead ward rounds and manage complex medical cases.
- Respond to acutely deteriorating patients and make initial clinical decisions.
- Assist emergency‑room physicians with rapid decision‑making for medical patients.
- Receive ICU step‑downs, assess appropriateness, and coordinate floor readiness.
- Attend medical emergencies on other wards (e.g., chest pain in orthopaedic patients).
- Exercise admission rights for insured internal medicine cases.
- Provide administrative, clinical and educational supervision to trainees under the Residency Programme Director.
- Model and promote a healthy work environment and professional behaviours.
- Integrate quality‑improvement and patient‑satisfaction data into departmental goals.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, hospital policies, safety plans and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with other departments and the CMO to develop and update policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular patient follow‑up rounds, either independently or with senior staff.
Required profile
- Board‑certified Internal Medicine specialist.
- Experience supervising hospitalists, residents and trainees.
- Commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
- Ability to communicate the organisation’s mission, vision and values.
- Proven collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Adaptability to change and ability to support colleagues through change.
Required skills
- Clinical decision‑making in acute and complex medical situations.
- Supervision and teaching of medical trainees.
- Quality‑improvement methodology.
- Knowledge of hospital safety and infection‑control protocols.
