Junior Policy & Legislative Research Consultant (Jordan)

About the role

UN Women Jordan is seeking a Junior Policy and Legislative Research Consultant to support the Inter‑Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment (IMC) and the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW). The consultant will provide focused research and analytical support on legislative and policy questions that arise from government reform initiatives related to gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct timely analysis of proposed or existing legislation, policies, regulations, and institutional arrangements affecting women and girls.
• Prepare concise briefing notes, policy briefs, and evidence‑based recommendations for IMC members, the IMC Chair, and technical working groups.
• Facilitate access to relevant research, data, and technical studies through JNCW and other knowledge sources.
• Support the drafting and revision of gender‑responsive legal texts and policy frameworks.
• Coordinate with gender focal points in line ministries to gather inputs and ensure coherence across government initiatives.

Required profile

• Jordanian national with a university degree in law, public policy, gender studies, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex legislative material into clear, actionable advice.
• Familiarity with Jordan’s legal system and gender‑related policy environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
