About the role
The IMF Resident Representative Office in Amman seeks a qualified Local Economist to monitor and analyze Jordan’s macroeconomic developments. The appointment is for one year with possible renewal.
Key responsibilities
- Systematically monitor, assess and evaluate economic and political developments in Jordan, focusing on production, prices, financial sector, fiscal issues and balance of payments.
- Provide IMF staff with accurate, up‑to‑date information on macroeconomic performance and maintain related databases.
- Collect, analyse data and produce written and statistical outputs, including program notes for visiting missions.
- Support institutional capacity building and monitor technical assistance provided by the Fund.
- Develop and maintain relationships with national technical staff, donor institutions, IFIs and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the IMF communications department on outreach and communication strategies.
Required profile
- MA or PhD in macroeconomics, financial economics or related field.
- At least five years of relevant experience in econometrics, statistics or finance.
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, with excellent spreadsheet and data‑analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently under the Resident Representative’s supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
