MEAL Manager – National (Syria)

About the role

The MEAL Manager will lead the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) function for Save the Children’s programmes in Syria. Working closely with the Head of MEAL, the role ensures that data‑driven evidence informs programme design, implementation and reporting, while maintaining a child‑friendly and gender‑sensitive approach.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve MEAL systems across all projects in the field office.
• Align MEAL activities with Save the Children’s strategies, quality benchmarks and common approaches.
• Lead project reviews, evaluations, budgeting, recruitment and support proposal writing and logframe development.
• Provide timely, high‑quality reporting on programme performance and outcomes.
• Support partner organisations in strengthening their MEAL capacities.
• Capture and disseminate contextualised lessons learned to inform future programming.
• Oversee the rollout of secure data‑management systems at field level and ensure compliance with data protection policies.
• Collaborate closely with the accountability function to uphold child safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in MEAL within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong analytical ability and familiarity with child‑friendly, age‑gender‑diversity approaches.
• Willingness to travel to project sites (minimum 30% field visits).
• Experience working with partners and coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Experience with MEAL frameworks and data collection tools.
• Knowledge of data protection and security standards.
• Ability to develop logframes and performance indicators.
