Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Dar, a member of the Sidara group, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the preparation of design packages for chiller plant processes. The role offers the opportunity to develop foundational knowledge in codes, design tools, and multidisciplinary coordination while working under close supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed design drawings and 3D models for mechanical systems.
• Assist in feasibility studies and execute accurate design calculations.
• Verify compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Collaborate with architecture, structural, electrical, telecom, and interior disciplines to resolve clashes.
• Prepare trade requirements such as structural loads, openings, and electrical specifications.
• Support technical reports, design submittals, and client coordination meetings.
• Maintain documentation quality, track revisions, and manage BIM model health.
• Contribute to cost and quantity estimations and respond to RFIs during construction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in multidisciplinary design projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively, manage time effectively, and pay close attention to detail.
• Awareness of sustainable design principles such as LEED or Estidama is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Revit.
• Proficiency with Navisworks.
• Experience using BIM workflows for mechanical design.
• Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) – considered a plus.
