Professor of Art History & Architecture (Full/Associate/Assistant)

About the role

The School of Architecture and Design at the American International University (AIU) in Kuwait invites applications for a full‑time faculty position in Art History and Architectural History. The appointment can be at the rank of Full Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, develop curricula, maintain an active research agenda, and contribute to the university’s academic community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses in Art History, Architectural History, global art, modern and contemporary art, design history, visual culture, and critical theory.
• Design and update course materials to reflect current scholarship and accreditation standards.
• Guide students in research, writing, analytical methods, and presentation skills.
• Participate in curriculum review, program development, and interdisciplinary initiatives linking art, architecture, and design.
• Maintain an active research profile, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, and present at national and international conferences.
• Engage in departmental, school, and university committees, accreditation activities, and community outreach.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Required profile

• PhD in Art History, Architectural History, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Strong teaching record at the university level, preferably in design‑oriented programs.
• Evidence of scholarly research and publications in relevant fields.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural academic environment.
• Commitment to curriculum innovation and student mentorship.
