Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

About the role

Mada BNPL is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its Technology team in Amman. You will design, build and maintain the scalable backend services that power the company’s Buy‑Now‑Pay‑Later platform, ensuring high performance, reliability and security.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based microservices and APIs (RESTful or GraphQL) for the BNPL platform.
• Optimize performance, ensure data integrity and implement robust security measures.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in architectural decisions, code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments and cloud infrastructure.

Required profile

• Strong experience in backend development with Java, preferably in fintech or high‑traffic environments.
• Proven ability to design resilient, high‑availability systems.
• Excellent collaboration and mentorship skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
