Senior Cloud Engineer – Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

About the role

OmniOps is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer specialized in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, build, and optimise secure, scalable, and highly‑available cloud infrastructure. You will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of GCP environments, resolve complex production issues, and drive continuous improvement of our enterprise cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, provision, configure and manage scalable GCP infrastructure, including Compute Engine, networking, IAM and load‑balancing services.
• Develop, maintain and optimise Terraform IaC configurations and reusable modules.
• Deploy, operate, scale, upgrade and troubleshoot Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters and associated workloads.
• Administer Linux and Windows Server environments that support cloud workloads.
• Implement and manage GCP networking components such as VPCs, subnets, firewalls, routing, DNS, VPNs and load balancers.
• Apply cloud security best practices across infrastructure, identities and networks.
• Configure monitoring, logging, alerting and observability solutions; conduct capacity planning and cost optimisation.
• Design and maintain backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery solutions for critical workloads.
• Participate in incident management, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support cloud migration, infrastructure modernisation and platform optimisation initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience with GCP, including Compute Engine and GKE.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices.
• Solid background in Linux and Windows system administration.
• Demonstrated ability to own cloud environments, troubleshoot complex issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive attitude.
