Senior Database Administrator

About the role

Equiti is seeking a detail‑oriented Senior Database Administrator to join its Engineering Platforms team in Amman. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing management of MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL environments that support the company’s fintech products.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases in production and non‑production environments.
• Configure, monitor and troubleshoot replication topologies such as master‑replica, Galera Cluster and streaming replication.
• Write and maintain SQL scripts and stored procedures for automation, data synchronization and reporting.
• Perform query optimisation, index tuning and performance analysis.
• Manage backup, recovery and routine maintenance operations.
• Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability, security and performance.
• Monitor database health and proactively identify potential issues.
• Assist with database upgrades, migrations and patching.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of hands‑on experience with MySQL or MariaDB in production.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of replication, Galera Cluster and high‑availability configurations.
• Solid SQL scripting and query optimisation skills.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and basic shell scripting.
• Good analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
