Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

The Senior Electrical Technical Engineer provides advanced technical expertise in electrical engineering, guides project teams and ensures the successful implementation of electrical systems. The role leads the design, analysis and troubleshooting of electrical components, works closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client needs and industry standards, and mentors junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes and standards.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, including engineers, designers and technicians, throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct electrical engineering analyses such as load calculations, voltage drop studies and short-circuit analyses to optimise system performance and reliability.
• Review and approve electrical design documents, including drawings, calculations and specifications, for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform site inspections and audits of installed electrical systems, identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee commissioning and testing of electrical systems so they meet design specifications and performance requirements.
• Support troubleshooting during construction, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to resolve issues promptly.
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices, and incorporate them into project designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and train them on electrical engineering principles, software tools and industry standards.
• Support HSE initiatives, take part in safety awareness activities and help with incident reporting and resolution in line with company policy.
