Senior Legal Advisor

About the role

MetLife Jordan is seeking a Senior Legal Advisor to provide strategic and operational legal support across the organization. The role acts as a trusted advisor to business leaders, ensuring compliance with Jordanian laws, insurance regulations, and MetLife global policies while enabling business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, practical legal advice on corporate, insurance, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.
• Support business initiatives, product launches, partnerships, and strategic projects from a legal and compliance perspective.
• Interpret and advise on new or amended laws, regulations, and regulatory instructions relevant to the insurance and financial services sector.
• Ensure MetLife Jordan’s operations comply with Jordan Insurance Directorate, Central Bank of Jordan regulations, local laws, and internal governance standards.
• Act as primary legal contact with regulators, external counsel, and industry bodies; support regulatory inspections, audits, and reporting.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and approve a wide range of agreements, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and legal standards.
• Manage litigation and disputes, coordinate with external lawyers, monitor case progress, and control legal costs.
• Provide employment law support, advising on contracts, disciplinary actions, terminations, and labor disputes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level legal professional with extensive experience in corporate and insurance law.
• Proven ability to interpret Jordanian legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing litigation, disputes, and contract negotiations.
• Strong advisory skills for business leaders and cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to work closely with Compliance, Risk, HR, Finance, Operations, and Regional Legal teams.
