Senior Research Officer – MSNA (Global)

About the role

The Senior Research Officer will join the Global MSNA Team within the Research Systems Unit, based in Amman, Jordan. The role supports the development, delivery and improvement of Multi‑Sector Needs Assessments (MSNAs) and related tools, working closely with country teams and the Global Data Team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead updates of the MSNA sectoral indicator guidance, toolkit templates and public‑facing resources.
• Develop and revise the Multi‑Sector Needs Index (MSNI) guidance and support its dissemination.
• Contribute to cross‑crisis analysis, data standardisation and production of global briefs, dashboards and webinars.
• Work with the Global Data Team to create reusable analysis pipelines, R‑package environments and automate repetitive workflows.
• Provide technical support to country teams throughout the research cycle, including design, sampling, data cleaning, analysis and reporting.
• Act as the HQ focal point for assigned MSNA countries, ensuring quality assurance and timely communication.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian research, multi‑sectoral assessments and data‑driven analysis.
• Proven ability to lead methodological development and support field teams in complex settings.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing.

Required skills

• R programming (including package development and the humind environment).
• KoBoToolbox questionnaire design and data management.
• GIS and satellite‑imagery analysis basics.
• Data cleaning, quantitative analysis and dashboard creation.
