Shift Lead – Mechanical (Power Generator Mechanic)

About the role

The Shift Lead – Mechanical will oversee the operation and maintenance of power generators and related equipment for the AFCAP program in Jordan. Reporting to the Power Plant Supervisor, you will ensure safe, reliable power production in a demanding field environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, service and troubleshoot spot power generators, gensets and supporting systems (engines, alternators, compressors, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components).
• Perform major repairs, rebuilds and overhauls of gensets, including top‑end, in‑frame and complete rebuilds up to 2 MW.
• Manage daily power‑plant tasks such as bringing gensets online/offline, synchronizing, fueling, taking hourly readings and maintaining electrical distribution.
• Document maintenance actions, fill service reports and coordinate parts requisition with the Prime Contractor.
• Lead and mentor less‑experienced mechanics, ensuring work follows manufacturer recommendations and safety procedures.
• Attend safety briefings, conduct oil‑sample analysis and maintain compliance with US‑G, US‑Military, Host‑Nation and VGS environmental policies.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license and passport with at least 12 months validity, CAC eligibility and ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
• Experience with genset systems ranging from 15 kW to 2 MW, including diesel, gasoline and multi‑fuel engines.
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics and using hand‑ and power‑tools.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and perform heavy lifting.
