Ship Manager

About the role

The Ship Manager will be based in Amman and will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of vessels within Orient Shipping’s fleet. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that ships run efficiently, safely and in full compliance with maritime regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate port calls, ensuring smooth vessel movements and compliance with local authorities.
• Develop and manage ship maintenance plans and monitor operational performance.
• Prepare and review operational reports, supporting safety, quality and budget initiatives.
• Coordinate with crews, port authorities and external service providers to resolve issues affecting vessel efficiency.
• Contribute to fleet project planning and drive continuous improvement of operational processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ship management, vessel operations or related marine logistics.
• Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, safety management systems and port procedures.
• Project management capabilities to plan and execute operational improvements.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills for coordinating multiple stakeholders.
• Relevant academic background in maritime studies, logistics, engineering or a related discipline is an advantage.
