Social Expert

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Social Expert to support the Jordan Water Sector Efficiency Project, a World Bank‑financed initiative aimed at improving water distribution efficiency and sustainability. The role will focus on ensuring that all project activities comply with social safeguard requirements and the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive social assessments to identify and mitigate potential project impacts.
• Prepare, monitor, and audit Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) in line with World Bank standards.
• Ensure strict adherence to social safeguard requirements and national regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate social mitigation measures into design and build packages.
• Provide guidance on stakeholder engagement, social compliance reporting, and monitoring of environmental and social safeguards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field.
• Proven experience delivering social safeguard services on large‑scale infrastructure projects, preferably funded by the World Bank.
• Strong knowledge of the World Bank Environmental and Social Standards and the ESF.
• Experience working in water sector projects and familiarity with Jordanian social and regulatory contexts.
