Technical Officer – Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC)

About the role

The WHO Representative's Office in Jordan is seeking a Technical Officer to support the Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) project that transports critically ill patients from Gaza to Jordan. The role provides technical and programme‑management expertise to ensure safe, efficient and accountable evacuation operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on MEDEVAC criteria, data analysis and evidence‑based recommendations.
• Act as the focal point for MEDEVAC actions, coordinating with Ministry of Health, UN partners and other stakeholders.
• Oversee programme planning, ensure timely delivery of tasks outlined in the project work plan, and monitor subcontractor performance.
• Escalate issues and consult with the functional line manager as needed.
• Maintain an overview of the MEDEVAC situation in Jordan and contribute to reporting.

Required profile

• Experience in health emergencies, humanitarian response or medical evacuation coordination.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the WHO Health Emergencies Lead and the Head of Country Office.
• Strong communication skills for continuous contact with health sector officials and partners.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage contracts and ensure complementarity of actions.
