UN Resident Coordinator – Jordan

About the role

The Resident Coordinator is the highest‑ranking United Nations development representative in Jordan. Reporting directly to the Secretary‑General and annually to the host Government, the role leads the UN Country Team, coordinates all UN operational activities for development, and ensures the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest levels of state and foster engagement with government, civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
• Lead and coordinate the UN Country Team to deliver system‑wide development programmes aligned with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Oversee the planning, monitoring and reporting of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Jordan.
• Ensure accountability and coherence across all UN agencies operating in the country through a matrixed dual‑reporting model.
• Report annually to the host Government on the implementation of the UN development agenda and to the Secretary‑General on overall performance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in leading multi‑agency development programmes or country‑level UN coordination.
• Deep understanding of the 2030 Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals and UN development frameworks.
• Proven ability to engage senior government officials, donors, NGOs and private‑sector partners.
• Strong leadership and diplomatic skills to manage a diverse UN Country Team.
