AI Backend Engineer (Associate Level)

About the role

Join PwC's AI Centre of Excellence as an AI Backend Engineer. You will help design, build, and ship the backend services that power AI products across the Middle East region.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement RESTful APIs for authentication, data access, and health checks.
• Develop modular services for model inference, prompt orchestration, and pipeline management.
• Orchestrate background and asynchronous tasks for long‑running AI workloads.
• Integrate with leading LLM platforms such as Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, and Hugging Face, optimizing calls for performance and cost.
• Containerize services using Docker and Docker Compose and collaborate on CI/CD pipelines.
• Assist in scaling data stores and define clear API contracts with frontend engineers.
• Produce documentation including OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, architecture diagrams, and in‑code comments.
• Participate in design discussions, architectural reviews, and peer code reviews.
