Airfield Management Shift Lead

About the role

The Airfield Management Shift Lead is responsible for maintaining situational awareness of airfield activities and ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective environment for aircraft operations while on duty.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct airfield inspections and safety checks, ensuring compliance with planning and design criteria.
• Plan, organize, and direct airfield activities such as construction/repairs, ice/snow removal, bird/wildlife control, and driving programs.
• Procure and maintain flight information publications, aeronautical charts, NOTAMs, and weather data for safe aircraft operations.
• Process domestic and international flight plans and coordinate with base agencies for billeting, mess, refueling, transportation, and transient aircraft maintenance.
• Coordinate airfield maintenance, construction projects, hazardous cargo handling, live‑fire devices, and respond to aircraft emergencies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved DoD/Airfield Managers course or equivalent.
• At least four years of aviation‑related experience with a 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 operator, including supervision and coordination with ATC and maintenance personnel.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM medical exam and a Secret security clearance (US citizenship required).

Required skills

• Knowledge of airfield safety procedures, flight‑following, and flight‑record management.
• Proficiency with weather information, flight plan processing, NOTAM handling, and aeronautical chart usage.
• Experience in wildlife management, bird‑strike hazard mitigation, and hazardous cargo coordination.
• Familiarity with AFMAN 13‑204v2 and AFMAN 13‑24v2 regulations.
