Anesthesia Technician / Technologist

About the role

The Anesthesia Technician/Technologist supports the anesthesiology team by preparing, maintaining and operating anesthesia and monitoring equipment throughout the surgical process. Working in a multidisciplinary theatre environment, the role ensures patient safety and compliance with clinical standards from pre‑operative preparation to post‑operative recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Check and secure central supply and gas cylinders.
• Assemble, prepare, sterilize and calibrate anesthesia and monitoring equipment before surgery.
• Verify availability of drugs, supplies, and equipment and assist the anesthesiologist with drug preparation.
• Assist with blood transfusion, intravenous infusion and other intravascular procedures.
• Prepare and position patients for surgical procedures and accompany them to the recovery room.
• Collaborate with the theatre team during and after surgery to support optimal patient care.
• Provide emergency resuscitation assistance, including CPR, BLS, ACLS and PALS.
• Perform on‑call and shift duties in accordance with hospital policy.
• Participate in seminars, workshops and professional development activities.
• Train and supervise new staff in anesthesia practices.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Anesthesiology.
• Valid anesthesiology practice license.
• 0–2 years of experience in anesthesiology or related field.
• National certification (Society Diploma) exam.
• Current BLS certification.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Assembly and preparation of anesthesia equipment.
• Calibration and operation of monitoring devices.
• Testing of anesthesia delivery systems.
