Arts Project Manager

About the role

The Arts Project Manager will lead the delivery of British Council’s global arts programmes – Arts in Action and Creative Growth – within a specific country. Working closely with a small local team and a network of sector partners, the role ensures that programme activities are relevant, impactful and aligned with both local needs and UK arts sector priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Arts in Action and Creative Growth activities, managing day‑to‑day operations and contract compliance.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local cultural organisations, sector partners and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with peers across other countries and the global arts network to share best practices and co‑design programmes.
• Identify opportunities for UK arts organisations to collaborate with local partners and contribute to the UK‑country cultural dialogue.
• Contribute to the country’s arts portfolio planning, ensuring alignment with regional strategic objectives.
• Support the integration of digital products and services to enhance programme impact and sustainability.
• Promote equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and anti‑racist practices within all activities.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of the local arts and creative industries landscape.
• Experience working with cultural sector partners and managing multi‑stakeholder projects.
• Ability to build and nurture diverse networks of creative professionals.
• Understanding of UK arts sector priorities and the ability to translate them into local contexts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multicultural environments.
