Backend Engineer – E‑commerce Payment Gateway

About the role

Network International is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain the backend services that power its NGenius Online e‑commerce payment gateway. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure the platform is reliable, scalable, and secure, supporting merchants across more than 50 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Java‑based microservices for the payment gateway.
• Design and optimise database schemas and queries in MongoDB and MySQL.
• Deploy and manage services on cloud platforms such as AWS, OCI, or Azure.
• Containerise applications using Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes.
• Apply secure coding practices, including encryption, authentication, and access controls.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and improve response times.
• Write unit and integration tests and ensure code quality through reviews.
• Document APIs, services, and integration points.
• Mentor junior developers when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java and modern frameworks.
