Backend Software Engineer (Python/FastAPI)

About the role

Loop is a software and AI development firm serving government and enterprise clients across the Gulf region, combining technical consulting, software engineering and applied AI. It is looking for a mid-level (3-5 years) or senior (5+ years) Backend Software Engineer to build backend services and integrations for client software and AI solutions using Python and FastAPI, working with the Engineering Lead, frontend, AI and DevOps engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop backend features, REST APIs and integrations with internal, external and AI services.
• Implement business logic, authentication, authorization and secure data access.
• Build data models and queries using PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Implement caching and background processing with Redis, RabbitMQ and Celery.
• Test and review code, maintain documentation and resolve production and performance issues.

Required profile

• Strong Python skills and experience developing production APIs with FastAPI.
• Solid API design, authentication, authorization and asynchronous programming fundamentals.
• Experience with microservices or modular monoliths and common software design patterns.
• Experience with automated testing, Git, Docker and production debugging.
• For senior candidates: experience designing production systems, writing high-level system designs, understanding distributed systems and reliability, and reviewing designs and code.
